JOHN LEWIS: GOOD TROUBLE
(2020 | 1h36m)
Released just weeks before he died on July 17, 2020, John Lewis: Good Trouble explores the Georgia representative’s 60-plus years of social activism and legislative action on civil rights, voting rights, gun control, health care reform, and immigration, featuring rare footage and interviews. In a 2020 interview with director Dawn Porter, Lewis explores his childhood experiences, inspiring family and fateful meeting with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in 1957. Porter’s primarily cinéma verité film also includes rare footage and interviews with political leaders, Congressional colleagues, and other people who figure prominently in his life including Stacey Abrams, Bill and Hilary Clinton, Corey Booker, Elijah Cummings and many more.
